Foundation Tips and Tricks

As an African American Woman I understand how difficult it is to to find foundation that FITS. I recently shopped for foundation and after visiting serveral places I found a great product that works well with my skin and skin tone. Lets start there, You must know your skin. What I mean when I say that is know your skin type, you don't want to purchase an oil based foundation if you have oilly skin. Talk about a waste of money. Make sure you let the cosmetic consultant know that before they begin to show and apply make-up. Truely identify your skin tone, women of African decent are usually identified as having DEEP, DARK, MEDIUM or FAIR skin. Which one do you fit in? Now Identify your undertone, I have red undertones ( thats my Native american traits, LOL). Then you want to assess your skin for splotchy redness, dark spots hyperpigmentation etc. Now that your familiar with your skin and know what your looking for well, go, Shop! Remember these four things while playing in the make up:
1. Address dark spots with a concealer
2. Skin Type matters- If you have regular breakouts, go for something oil free and if your skin is dry, go for something with lots of moisture!
3. Try the foundation first- It's like buying shoes you don't want to get home and it doesnt fit. Places like MAC and Sephora have testers and consultants to assit you with this major life decision, LOL!
4. Become a Mixologist- If you cant find one that works take the few that fit and apply them to make a picure perfect canvase!
I hope these tips help you find your foundation. When you do take a picture and tweet us @RimaniCllection We'd Love to see you in your new Foundation!
